Sukkot and Consecration Service

Date: Wednesday, September 22, 2010
Time: 6:30 pm
Location: Sanctuary

Consecration is a special ceremony honoring children entering religious school and beginning the mitzvah of Jewish learning. It emphasizes the importance and joy of studying Torah in Jewish tradition. At the season when ancient Jews brought their fall harvest to the Temple, we bring our children and consecrate them to the study of God's teachings.

At our Sukkot festival service tonight we will consecrate our new students. The students will be called to the bimah and presented with a certificate and a miniature paper Torah scroll as a special gift to honor this important occasion in the life of the student and family.

Dinner in the Sukkah precedes the service, at 5:45 pm. RSVP to shanda@shirhadash.org.
