3-Generation Synaplex Shabbat Service

Date: Friday, January 28, 2011
Time: 5:45 pm - 9:15 pm
Location: Sanctuary

Join us for a variety-filled Shabbat event with something for everyone. The Synaplex concept is an analogy to movie theaters with many screens. We will bring three generations of our Shir Hadash families together with activities geared for every age group.

5:45 pm : Dialogue for Children, Parents, and Grandparents for the younger set and grandparents. Don't have grandparents or grandchildren nearby? No problem! Join us for the event and we will match you up.

6:15 - 7:00 pm : Dinner for all - Kid-friendly, adult-appealing Chinese food. Adults $14, Kids 4-11 $7, under 3 free. RSVP to Nadine at 358-1751 x5 or nadine@shirhadash.org by January 26 to avoid a higher cost.

7:00 - 8:15 pm : Choose one from these three different activities:

  • Test your Jewish trivia with a multi-generation game of Jewish Apples-to-Apples. We will have the young peoples and adult versions available.

  • Teens (Hebrew High students): meet in the multi-purpose room to share your favorite YouTube video with a Jewish connection.

  • View and schmooze about two short movies:
Gefilte Fish - The Movie, a look at gefilte fish from the perspective of three generationof cooks in one family.
Gefilte Fish - a comedy in which Gali's family has a long-lasting tradition. Every woman, engaged to be married, has to prepare Gefilte Fish for the wedding party as a virtue for the success of the marriage.

8:15 - 9:15 pm : Adult Shabbat Service

Babysitting will be available. The charge is $10 per child. Reservations are required; if there are no reservations by Thursday at 5 pm, the sitter will be dismissed.
Please RSVP to Nadine at (408) 358-1751 x5 or nadine@shirhadash.org.
