Jerome Kern’s Music and Life,
Presented by Fred Stern
Composer Jerome Kern wrote the music for over 1000 popular songs, including “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes”, “The Way You Look Tonight”, “All The Things You Are”, and “Ol’ Man River”.
Fred Stern will talk about the life of Jerome Kern and show film clips illustrating his music, as it was performed on Broadway and in Hollywood.
Kern (1885-1945) was born a generation after Victor Herbert and a generation before Richard Rodgers. You will see how Kern led the development of the first truly American theater music.
Shir Hadash is pleased to provide the program and a light lunch for a nominal donation of $5 per person.
We invite those with last names starting with N – Z to bring dessert (NO CHOCOLATE).
Please RSVP by Friday, March 4, to Shanda Kaplowitz at 358-1751 x2, or email Shanda@ShirHadash.org.
