Milpitas, CA, 95035
We will welcome members of the mosque to our congregation Friday evening at 6:30 pm for dinner followed by a brief Shabbat Service at 8:00 pm.
Jews and Muslims share much in common. We share the historical roots of their respective traditions, their adherence to a sacred law, their experiences as minority faiths in America, and even their presence in similar geographic regions of the country.
By bringing together members of the Muslim and Jewish communities we hope to encourage dialogue and understanding. Our experience in 2008 was outstanding and we gained a great deal from the time we spent with our Muslim Silicon Valley neighbors. Expanding our interfaith work beyond Jewish-Christian dialogue is also a goal of our Shir Hadash Organizing Committee in its work with PACT (People Acting in Community Together).
Shir Hadash is very pleased to be joining for a second time in the Muslim-Jewish Twinning Efforts of the The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding (FFEU).
This is a wonderful opportunity to share Jewish tradition and to gain an understanding of Islam and its American adherents.
