BYU football, Donny & Marie Osmond, white-shirted missionaries, the Tabernacle Choir, and HBO’s Big Love are examples of how Mormonism has become a more visible part of the American landscape. But how much is accurate of what we think we know about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (more commonly known as the Mormon religion)?
Adult learners within the Shir Hadash Community as well as those in the larger Jewish community are invited to join Rabbi Fleekop in examining America’s fastest growing faith tradition.
Together we will explore:
* the origins of this faith, founded on American shores
* its core teachings, the Book of Mormon
* the role of church hierarchy,
* the division between Mormon Fundamentalists and the main-stream Church
