Shabbat Dinner before Service

Date: Friday, December 10, 2010
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: Oneg Room

The music, food, and stories of Eastern European Jewry

Extend the joy of Hanukkah and join us for a special musical evening and dinner. Klezmer music will delight the ear while we enjoy the original Jewish version of slow-cooking, cholent, the Jewish crock pot, which is enjoying a renaissance around the world.

Members of the congregation will prepare various versions of this traditional Sabbath main dish both with meat and vegetarian. Traditional cholent was meat, potatoes, barley, and beans, but people also make it with sweet potatoes, chickpeas, tomatoes, and string beans, and a variety of spices.

During dinner we will be serenaded by the band, Hot Kugel and they will also take part in our special musical service.

There is no charge for this dinner, but please sign up for a side dish, salad, or dessert when you make your reservation with Nadine at 408-358-1751 x5 or nadine@shirhadash.org.
