Shabbat Service followed by Israeli Dinner

Date: Friday, October 21, 2011
Time: 6:30 pm
Location: Sanctuary

Please join Rabbi Aron and Cantor Felder-Levy for an early Shabbat Service followed by catered Israeli Dinner and program and slide show.

There are many reasons to travel to Israel. David Wong, one of the 12 Shir Hadash members who joined Rabbi Aron on a June tour of Israel, decided to take the trip because ““I was told by several people that to really appreciate what it is to be a Jew, I must go to Israel.” Travelers agreed it was a “trip of a lifetime”.

Kai Wessels summed it up well: “Bravo to tour guide Jacky and (Rabbi) Melanie for making these first few days be [ones ]of wonder, awe, and joy.”

Shir Hadash members were joined by 6 other travelers from diverse locations: West Palm Beach Florida; Short Hills, N.J.; and Susanville, Santa Rosa, & Newhall CA. The group bonded quickly and enjoyed laughter filled camaraderie through out the trip. Stan Levy noted “One of the neatest aspects of a tour like this is being part of a process where strangers and casual acquaintances become friends through closely shared experiences ….”

Travelers will be sharing pictures, memories, experiences, and responses with the congregation on Friday Oct. 21 after 6:30 pm. services and a mid-eastern dinner at 7:15pm. Yair Dror will provide vegetarian and meat choices for $12 a person.

Those sharing their experiences are Elayne Klasson, who lived on a Kibbutz in Israel in the 70s, Stan Levy for whom this trip was his second Shir Hadash tour, and Harriet Wolf, who had never been to Israel before.

Join us and you may decide you don’t want to miss the next Shir Hadash tour of Israel.
