Congregation Shir Hadash’s commitment to its members encompasses opportunities for members to expand or enhance their knowledge, enjoyment and connection to Judaism and Jewish learning while building relations with other congregants. The Temple’s Adult Education Committee seeks out and presents courses and/or events that will provide relevant, educational and interesting programs to meet the growing needs of our Shir Hadash community. In past years, these courses/events have included movie nights, lectures, field trips and book groups presenting a diverse range of topics and challenging discussions. We also offer language courses from beginning Hebrew to more advanced study as well as an adult B’nai Mitzvah class.

The opportunity to explore Torah is presented in classes that meet to study specific texts as well as seasonal study/discussion groups. Scholar-in-Residence programs and retreats provide further opportunities for exploration. Shir Hadash hosts a discussion group for interfaith couples, “Taste of Judaism,” Introduction to Judaism, beginning Hebrew and special classes that give both Congregation members and interested community members a chance to expand their knowledge or try new areas of endeavor.
