We appreciate your interest in membership at Congregation Shir Hadash. Our name, “Shir Hadash,” means “New Song” and offers a glimpse at one of the important aspects of our worship together. We love to sing together and we love lots of music styles. The composition of our congregation also reflects our love of diversity and our desire for each member to feel welcome in our community. Whether you express your Jewish identity through social action, study, social activity or worship, you will be valued at Shir Hadash. Our congregation is a mix of people from many different backgrounds. Non-Jewish partners are encouraged to actively participate in congregation life. We are a welcoming community, a place where friendships can develop across age and other boundaries. We define Congregation Shir Hadash as an evolving Reform Jewish congregation dedicated to providing vital Jewish life, spiritual growth and a community for its members. We evolve because if you join Congregation Shir Hadash, it will change the nature of our community. As you become a part of Congregation Shir Hadash, the whole changes, we believe for the better as each member brings something unique to the whole. We evolve too because as a community we are dedicated to ongoing education and to providing opportunities for all members from toddlers to seniors, to study and learn together. We hope the information on the following pages can serve as a brief introduction and overview to Congregation Shir Hadash. We invite you to visit us, to join us for Shabbat services Friday evening and on Saturday morning, and to contact us with any questions you might have.
