Jewish Literature Class

An English Composition class with a Jewish Literature Emphasis will be offered this coming Spring semester at West Valley College. The course is transferable to all UC and Cal State Universities, as English 1B, or 102. Laura Bernell designed and teaches this class.

The course will include the following readings: The Assistant, by Bernard Malamud, The Slave, by Isaac Bashevis Singer, and William Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice. In addition, a variety of short stories and poetry by Jewish writers or with Jewish themes will be studied, along with biblical texts.

The course will be offered Wednesday evenings, from 6 pm to 9 pm. The semester begins January 31st.
