“We do not leave this world with even half of what we want answered.”
—Midrash Rabbah

Shir Hadash offers our member families numerous opportunities to learn about Reform Jewish life, traditions, values, holidays, rituals and Hebrew.

Formal classes are offered for children starting in pre-school and continuing through high school. A diverse range of classes and educational events are offered for all adult members of the congregation.

Early Childhood Center

The Shir Hadash Early Childhood Center is a preschool for children ages 2–5 in our purpose built school facility. This preschool is open to members, non-members and children of all faiths. Our preschool program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early childhood education. Started in the Reggio Emilia region of Italy in the late 40s–early 50s, this methodology has been studied and modeled world-wide. In 1991, a Newsweek article identified the Reggio Emilia programs as the best early childhood programs in the world.

The Shir Hadash Early Childhood Center creates a safe and nurturing Jewish early childhood environment, inspired by the philosophy of Reggio Emilia, rooted in our congregational community and Reform Jewish values.

Youth Education

Shir Hadash offers learning programs for children from Kindergarten through Confirmation. Students in Kindergarten through sixth grade attend Sunday school. Students in grades 3–6 also attend Hebrew school on Monday or Tuesday afternoons, or they may take an alternative Hebrew Tutoring Program. Students in grades 7–9 attend Hebrew High school on Tuesday evenings, and 10th graders attend Confirmation class. Students in 11th and 12th grades attend class on Sundays.

Adult Education

Shir Hadash offers numerous opportunities for members and non-members to explore the many facets of Judaism as well as participate in unique Jewish cultural programs and events. To learn more about specific classes and events, please see our Adult Education program and our Exploring the World of Judaism series.
