BAKING challah for THE homebound

Even though Mitzvah Day can't happen in its usual format this year, we have come up with a way to continue our Shir Hadash tradition of providing members with the opportunity to serve our greater community as many local organizations are in desperate need of help and volunteer efforts.

At this first volunteer event, Davida Rosenbaum, Ivy Chesser, and Beth Freeman-Hansen will be leading a challah-baking activity via Zoom. Each of them will have 20 spots in their session for individuals or families who wish to volunteer. Volunteers will be assigned a homebound congregant for whom they will bake and deliver a challah and include a note or card wishing them well.

All bakers will be using the same recipe to prepare their challah together.  You can find the recipe here.  Please purchase ingredients and have your kitchen ready for baking prior to the session.
