About Weekly Services
We are saving a seat for you! Find an upcoming service on our calendar and please join us. All services are open to all who wish to worship with us. Only the major High Holy Day services require advance arrangements. Shir Hadash embraces LGBTQ, interfaith, and multiracial families.
Most services are live-streamed on Shir Hadash TV as noted on the calendar. To view these services, or to see archived services, please go to shirhadash.org/live.
Friday Evening Services
We invite you to join us at these services, where all are welcome, which may include a sermon delivered by Rabbi Nico, Rabbi Walden or Cantor Felder-Levy, a participatory presentation, or a visit by an outside speaker. On the last Friday of the month, the service includes a Torah reading and discussion of the weekly portion.
Once or twice a year, we move our Friday evening service outside to our beautiful garden area. Watch the calendar for these extra-special Shabbat worship experiences.
Saturday Morning Services
Throughout the year, community Shabbat services take place on Saturday mornings. Led by our clergy team, these services often feature a special theme or program in addition to the reading of the Torah.
Parshah and Hebrew Calendar
Congregation Shir Hadash uses the Diaspora parshah calendar. Looking to find the Hebrew calendar date of a particular past or future date? Please use this Hebrew calendar date conversion tool!
Volunteer at Services
We invite interested members to volunteer at our services - there are three main ways to support our services, including:
- Services Greeter: It's so important that each person coming to services feels welcomed with a smile and friendly greeting. This role involves arriving 15 minutes early for services and helping to greet everyone as they arrive as well as handing out the prayer books. To sign up and help in this role, please email the Ritual Team.
- Oneg Team: This important team adds so much to the enjoyment of our Onegs after services - this team coordinates the snacks, treats, beverages, and decorations after Friday services and some Saturday services as well. To find out how you can help support the Oneg Team, please email onegcommittee@shirhadash.org.
- Lay Leaders: Our Saturday morning services have volunteer opportunities as well as opportunities to chant Torah or haftorah! This is a very meaningful way to volunteer at our services - please email cantor@shirhadash.org to find out more and get involved.
