Hello! My name is Mercedes Mendoza, and I am proud to serve as the Director of the Shir Hadash Early Childhood Center (ECC). I hold over 70 units in Early Childhood Education, with an emphasis on Early Childhood Mental Health, and am certified as both a Positive Discipline Early Childhood Educator and a Positive Discipline Parent Educator.

My Background

I have more than 14 years of experience working with children from birth through age six, along with some experience in elementary education. Through my years of research and hands-on practice, I have found that children learn best through play. This philosophy guides my work every day.

Creating an environment where children feel safe, respected, and inspired to explore is at the heart of what I do. When a child feels secure and valued, the possibilities for growth and learning are endless.

About Me

Outside of work, I’m a proud mom to my daughter Zariah, who is 10 years old. Our family also includes our dog, Donut. In our free time, we love to relax and watch movies, go on outings, and spend quality time with family.

I’m truly excited to be part of this wonderful community and look forward to growing with each of you.
