Robin AdelmanHello! My name is Robin Adelman and I have been working in Jewish Early Childhood Education for more than 25 years. I firmly believe that the path to life-long Jewish learning begins with a young child’s footsteps into a quality Jewish early childhood program.

I'm passionate about fostering a welcoming, cooperative environment between a child’s home and school. Together we can create strong roots through our early childhood program and on into the synagogue community. Does your family have a preschool age child? I invite you to learn more about our fully-licensed preschool program for ages 2 through transitional kindergarten, which includes a flexible variety of full-day and part-day options: Shir Hadash Early Childhood Center.

Temple Role/Responsibilities

I am the founding director of the Shir Hadash Early Childhood Center and have grown the school since it first opened its doors to serve the first small inaugural class of preschool students in 2009, through today's thriving program with more than five energetic classes of preschoolers led by experienced and caring teachers.

Training and Education

  • B.S. degree in Education from Mansfield University in PA.
  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Jewish Early Childhood Education at Gratz College in Philadelphia.

I have worked as a preschool director at Bet Yeladim in Columbia, MD, Temple Emanuel in Baltimore, MD and Congregation Beth Or in Maple Glen, PA.

Background/Personal

One of my most rewarding experience was a few summers ago when I travelled to Israel with a group of Jewish early childhood professionals from the Philadelphia area. We were able to visit early childhood schools and discover the similarities and differences to schools in the U.S.

I have 2 adult children: a son who lives in Philadelphia, PA, and a daughter in Los Angeles, CA. A life-long resident of the East Coast, I am enjoying my adventure living in California, especially the better weather. I am blessed with three wonderful grandchildren.
