On Monday, April 28, 2025, I had the honor of joining Rabbi Nico Socolovsky at the California State Capitol. Rabbi Nico was invited as a guest rabbi by Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens to offer a prayer (video below!) to the California State Assembly during the California Legislative Jewish Caucus’ Yom HaShoah Ceremony.
The theme of this year’s Yom HaShoah Ceremony was “Warning Signs Before the Holocaust: Scapegoating and the Regression to Tyranny.” As the daughter of a Holocaust child survivor who passed away almost three years ago, I was proud to represent the little boy who fled Romania at the age of 13 and eventually made his way to Israel to build a new life.
It was also deeply meaningful for me to be there as the mother of two Jewish teenage girls, living in a time of rising antisemitism, and to stand committed to ensuring this history is never repeated.
Thank you, Rabbi Nico, for allowing me to be part of this holy and important day.
