Tashlich is our opportunity within the spiritual arch of the High Holy Days to sing, laugh and settle into ourselves between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Join us for a community gathering at the Rio del Mar beach in Aptos. Bring beach games and a vegetarian picnic. At 6:45pm we will begin Tashlich, followed by Havdalah and the shofar blast! Finally, we will have cookies to share as we enjoy the sunset on the beach.

Come Early at 4:00 PM for REVERSE TASHLICH–

Reverse Tashlich is a time for us  to reflect and to act on our responsibilities as stewards of the Earth. The mitzvah of Bal Tashchit is the Jewish prohibition against needless waste and destruction.  By removing the waste which accumulates at our beaches, we can help protect marine life and the ecosystems essential for life on Earth.

• Before Tashlich, we will be observing a Reverse Tashlich ritual, removing trash from the beach.   We will begin with a prayer, collect trash for about an hour and come together to recognize our efforts before moving on to the Tashlich ceremony.
• Bring a bucket or bag to collect trash, gloves or other materials (clean and reuse plastic bag to cover hand)
