CANCELLED: Hebrew School

Monday, March 16, 2020 20 Adar 5780

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

UPDATE:

In keeping with the Jewish value of pikuach nefesh, the health and safety of our congregants, we have decided that all in-person Religious School and Hebrew School in-person classes are cancelled until the end of Passover and Spring Break beginning this Sunday, March 15.  We will plan on returning to our classrooms on Sunday, April 19.

We will be taking the coming school week (March 15, 16, and 17) to prepare for distance learning experiences.  These experiences will be facilitated by your clergy and child’s teachers and will take place during regular school hours.

We will be holding a Pre-Passover distance learning program, for Religious School students and families, Sunday morning, March 29.

Hebrew School will also be meeting virtually beginning Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24.

All Hebrew High and Confirmation students will participate in distance learning programming on Tuesday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 31.

B’nai Mitzvah individual lessons will continue as scheduled, though in classrooms for greater social distancing. If you are in doubt about a cancellation, please check the website or contact the Temple office.

ABOUT HEBREW SCHOOL

Our Hebrew School program is for students in Grades 3-6. Students in Grade 3 focus on letter-vowel recognition, decoding skills, and learn through an interactive approach to Hebrew learning called Hebrew Through Movement.

Students in Grade 4 and 5 are divided based on ability, and use a curriculum called Hebrew in Harmony, teaching prayer through music, movement, and meaning activities. Students in Grade 6 study with Cantor Felder-Levy and focus on the Torah service and trope. The middle of the school day always includes tefillah, which is led by Rabbi Aron or Rabbi Schwartz.
