Congregation Shir Hadash Organizing Comittee Presents: “Transhood” A Meaningful Movies Discussion Program Wednesday, August 24, 7:30 pm

Eight states have proposed laws limiting the rights of transgender individuals. These laws range from limiting participation in school sports to access to medication and surgery. This population is at high risk for civil rights abuse, and physical and mental health concerns.

The documentary film Transhood follows four children--beginning at ages four, seven, twelve, and fifteen, as they “redefine coming-of-age”. Over 5 years, the families share the intimate realities of
how gender fluidity is reshaping the family life.

Watch the movie and join us for what promises to be a moving and meaningful panel discussion of what it means to be transgender and how we can support this community in our homes, the synagogue and the broader community. Our panel will include medical and community professionals who work with transgender individuals as well as families who will share their personal experience.

When you register, you will receive the zoom link for the panel and a link to watch the movie for free, August 20–or you can stream the movie anytime on HBO.
