There's a tradition that the meal we eat before the fast is as important as the fast itself. We don't make Kiddush or light candles until after the meal is done, but we will guide you through some ways to make it special.

Consider having 18 silver dollars (or quarters) on hand to participate in an old custom of fulfilling the words of Unetaneh Tokef, that "prayer, repentance, and charity can avert the harshness of the decree."
